Housing First.

Homeward Trust Edmonton embraces the principle of Housing First—that every person has the right to a safe, secure home.

This principle is at the core of both the Government of Alberta and City of Edmonton 10 year plans to end homelessness.

The program’s focus is on ending homeless by providing permanent housing to those in need and ensuring that support systems are in place in order for that housing to be maintained.

Since 2009, over 5,000 people have found housing through this program and 80% have maintained their housing.

Find, which is managed by Homeward Trust, participates in the Housing First program by providing furniture and affects to individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness.

Consistent with the principle of choice, Housing First clients select their furnishings prior to moving in to housing. The Find team then delivers the furnishings to the residence and the individual, couple or family, transforms their new house in to their new home.
